Well I was in the middle of writing another post when 911 rang. After I handled the call I decided I had to save the other post for later and write this one...
Picture if you will an early Saturday morning. The sky is bright blue, the air is warm and breezy. A perfect morning for any activity; yard work, baseball games, a morning walk, or just sleeping in......
** ring **
Me: "911, what is your emergency?"
Caller: "I need the number to the PD. A deer just crashed through our front window"
Me: "Really?? (such a professional response)
Caller: "Yeah. He shattered the front window"
Me: "Well, this is PD but let me give the non-emergency number so we don't tie up this line."
*ring*
Me: "Police Department"
Caller: "Hey, you're just the Jack of all Trades"
Me: "Yeah, I do it all. So is the deer still in the house?"
Caller: "No. He finally got out."
Me: "Did you have your video camera set up?"
Caller: laughing "No. But two people were out walking and saw the whole thing. We were upstairs sleeping. It sounded like a truck ran through the house. You wouldn't believe it!"
Me: "I bet. What a wake up call" chuckling
Caller: "There is glass and blood every where. It's a mess. I didn't know if we needed a report for the insurance or not."
Me: "Well, I'll send him (officer) over and let him take a look at it."
Caller: "Ok. Thanks"
*ring ring*
Me: Hey D, I have a detail for you
D: What's that?
Me: Go to ***. A deer just crashed through this guys house.
D: They don't need a report for that. Just have them call their insurance.
Me: Well just go over there and at least take a picture so I can see it!
D: smirking at me OK....
....Well, D just came back in and his first comment was, "Man, you wouldn't believe what deer hooves will do to a hard wood floor." He told the home owner that officially a report was not needed but that he would go a head and write one up because "No one is going to believe this"
