Saturday afternoon was a fairly warm day.... lets put that in perspective; it was above freezing... The sky was blue and the sun was shining. I got home from work about 2:30. Chuck was watching the race. Gracie and Suze were playing house and Julia (neice) was asleep on the couch.
The perfect opportunity for a peacful walk. I grabbed my iP0d and snuck out the back door. A sun-filled glorious 45 minutes all to myself.
Upon return to the house, I found all family members in the exact same positons. Hmmmm, could I possibly even dare think that after such a wonderful walk that I might get to sneak in a little nap.... Gasp. could it be true??... Chuck was on our bed watching the race. Julia was on the couch and the girls were playing in the livingroom. Quietly I tip toed down to the girls room... with the curtains in their room I could shut out a little more of the outside light... I laid down on Gracie's bed and closed my eyes.
Several minutes passed. I don't think I actually fell asleep but it was nice to relax. Soon I heard Suzie skip down the hall to her room. She came in and saw me on the bed.... I know this because I could sense her standing next to me starring at me... I opened one eye and looked over at her, "What are you doin' Suze?" She leaned in close to me and babbled something about looking for her dishes. She hopped over to her toy closet and I closed my eyes again.
Soon I felt her standing next to me again. I didn't open my eyes this time, I waited for her to say something. But she didn't speak. Instead she took the little toy skid steer she had in her hand and began to drive it across my face.... it's actually Chuck's toy skid steer. Yes, my husband has toy tractors. He would much rather have life size tractors and skid steers.... but he would have to win the lottery first. But I guess he would need to play the lottery in order to win the lottery....
I laughed and opened my eyes, "Suzanna! What. Are. You. Doing?" Suze picked the tractor up off my face and held it in front of my eyes, "I got me tra'kor."
Laughing "Yes. I see you have your 'trakor'. Why are you driving on my face?"
"Cuz" and with that she left the room, skipping down the hall
*Note- To any males out there reading this and commenting to themselves that a skid steer and a tractor are two different things. Well, this is my post and I can refer to a skid steer as a tractor or a tractor as a skid steer. Besides, Suzie isn't even two yet and I don't think she cares if she calls a skid steer a tractor.*

too cute! If Asa could hear you he would correct you on the tractor/skid steer terminology. He does it to me alllll the time!
Glad you had some time to yourself.
I have no idea what a skid steer tractor is so your terminology sounded great to me.
Don't you just love how kids will use your body parts for any form of entertainment?
What the heck is a skid steer?? I know what a tractor is, and a combine, a back hoe, a disk and a plow. . . . Suze is so cute, just had to give mommy some "attention" :o).
Glad you had a nice quiet walk by yourself - some peace and quiet.
Sounds like a wonderful afternoon. I'm glad the tractor was small!
That is so cute. It is hard to sneak in a nap for we mothers, isn't it? At least you got your walk in!!!
Sharon: a skid steer is a loader. I think;)
Sounds like a great afternoon. Sans the traKor on your face! what a cutie.
Olivia can't stand to let me sleep. She either has a million questions, or wants to shower me with kisses ;-) Must be a kid conspiracy!
While I don't care if a woman or a two year old calls a skid-steer "a tractor", for your mom's sake (and your husbands for that matter) allow me to explain: A tractor becomes a "skid-steer" when it is "steered" like a tank. That is it will have either tires or tracks on each side that move independantly from the other side. By applying the brake/accelerator to one side you "steer" by "skidding" the other sides tires; again like a tank. They usually have loaders on the front but not neccesarily. This concludes today's lesson. Are you asleep yet? There will be a quiz...
Will Vroom Vroom!
I'm still seething with jealousy over a sunny day and a 45-minute run! Good for you!
Sooo cute, I love the kid-talk, I'm always sad when mine learn the 'right' way to pronounce things.
Soooo funny. I love that the treatment you received after disciplining yourself to walk on a cold day was to have toys dragged along your face. PHENOMINAL.
I found you through Miss Sniz and immediately put you in my "favorites." I will admit I had NO idea what a skid steer was and I am sure I am now well educated on it,thankyouverymuch!
I will be back often!
