A Josh Post

I don't post too often about Josh. For no other reason than his unwavering desire to remain in the background of life can't compete with the cute stages the girls are going through. Before I started blogging I did keep a journal... some what... of all the cute things both Josh and Caleb said and did when they were little. But even in Josh's efforts to remain unnoticed, every now and then he makes me chuckle.

With Chuck and I both being involved in emergency services, we usually have a scanner on in the house so we can hear whats going on in the county.... plus, Chuck's pager doesn't always go off when it should... I have this bad habit of talking back to the scanner and throwing my one hand in the air when something is dispatched out wrong.

Over the years, Josh has picked up on the different tones that page out various departments. He is very in-tune with what is going on and questions me about incidents that Chuck responds to. If a department gets toned out and I am not in the room, Josh will come running to tell me who got paged out and why.... although he doesn't always get the "why" part right...

The other day I was working on my computer. I heard some tones go off but I wasn't paying attention. Josh jumped up off the couch and ran to tell me that EMS and Medic were just paged out for a 29 year old pregnant lady who was bleeding. I acknowledged him, then turned my focus back to my computer.

A few minutes later I heard the tones for Chuck's department. They were being paged out for First Responder assistance to the pregnant 29 year old. Josh came running again, this time even more excited, "Can you believe that? They just toned out VFD!"

"Josh, that's fine. They always get toned out for stuff like that."

Turning to go back to the couch Josh threw his arm in the air in aggravation, "Yeah, but it took 5 minutes until the decided to tone 'em out!"

I chuckled at seeing the mirror image of me walk away, "Well, yeah Josh, you're right."

It is kind of scarey how our kids watch us even when we don't know they are and that imitation comes out at the most unexpected times. I see that in Brandon too. It actually scares me. ha ha.

By the way, I LOVE, LOVE your new blog design. Sorry it took me so long to get here. I miss ya!

Hahahaha that's great! I'd love to have a scanner in the house but both of our agencies are on 800mhz digital trunked systems and the darn scanners that pick them up are about $400! Yikes!

That's my Josh, I can see him looking at the clock when he heard the scanner and then look again when they toned VFD out. Love that boy

So your __-year-old son can monitor these tones but our tax-fueled professionals cannot? Huh. Go figure.

P.S. I wish YOU and your son were in charge of this stuff. Imagine what would get done!!!
