I'm Still A SLACker

*Note-- 'SLAC' (pronounced SLACK) is an acronym in dispatcher slang for Saving Lives And Crap*

I posted a few weeks ago about applying for a job at the Prosecutor's office. I got my "letter" yesterday informing me that the position was filled from within the department.

Although it would have been a very interesting job, I am ok with not getting it. I have so much going on with insurance right now that it would have been a hard decision to change places of employment right now. Plus, I would have felt a little guilty taking a job promotion from someone who already works for the Prosecutor.

So- it's life as usual. Weekends. Holidays. But dispatching is in my blood. I will always be a dispatcher- Just sittin here Savin Lives and Crap.

... and of course the other job would have cut down on my blogging time... ;)

Sorry you didn't get the job but it sounds like you are where you need to be right now!

Enjoy SLACing off!

That's funny! I have been thinking about changing jobs but like you that would change my blogging time. Not to mention they are hard to find right now, I think!

Have a good day!

If there's another job out there for you, you'll get it.

I'm sorry you didn't get it - it would be nice to get away from weekends and holidays! Of course, I would hate for anything to happen to your blogging time!

I have been a substitute mail carrier for the last 9 years. Although I now have my own route it is still 6 days a week. I can appreciate what you said due to the fact that I get 2 Saturdays off per year max. It's hard when you have kids. I constantly feel like I've missed something. Hoping for 5 days a week soon. Hope you get a great job, but only if it's the one God wants for you.

I am happy to know that you might be on the other end of the phone should I ever need to call 911 if I were in your area. Of course, I don't know if you actually answer the phones, but you get the idea.
