Ice Sliding

Saturday, we were out at the farm. Chuck had an idea to take the kids down over the hill and let them skate slide on the frozen pond. The only problem- the pond started to crack after just a few seconds.... a little too cold to go swimming...
Next idea- Head down to the creek... at least if it cracks, we would only sink to our knees...

The kids had a blast sliding around on the ice. On a few parts of the ice, we could see little fish swimming below us. Gracie and Caleb thought that was nifty noodle.

Papaw brought down a little snow sled and the kids took turns. Chuck would try to hold his balance while he gave them a big shove, sending them sailing down the creek.

Papaw got out his chain saw and cut down some brush that was in our way. He went a little crazy and started cutting everything down. The saw dust made it hard to slide, but the kids still made it work. Then Chuck got the 4wheeler out on the creek. He had fun but it really ruined the ice surface. The kids were getting quite cold anyway- Time to head to the house.

Sunday morning, first thing, all the kids asked if we could go sliding again. Instead we stayed cooped up at home all day.

Oh wow, that looks like TONS of fun!! Good idea to go to the shallow creek vs falling in the pond. That wouldn't have been so fun if the ice cracked and someone fell in - YIKES!
