There Is Always A Chuckle Close By

My kids... especially the girls at their particular ages... are always saying or doing something that cracks me up. Suzie... almost 3... is at the best age because so much of her personality is starting to come out. Gracie is pretty funny, too, with some of the stuff she comes up with. She is leaving the Little Girl stage for Big Girl stage. It is sad. But a joy to observe.

Here are a few things they've said or done over the past week that has made me chuckle

Gracie

Josh loves to watch our home movies. Last week when they missed so much school... and were bored- driving me insane... Josh watched all our family videos and got the girls hooked on watching them as well.

Gracie was laying on the floor getting into a baseball game of Josh's from a few summers ago. The crowd in the background was cheering and so was Gracie... now keep in mind that the girls and I have been to several basket ball games recently watching Josh and Caleb play...

Josh swung and missed- Strike One. Josh swung again and missed. The background crowd was yelling and cheering.

Gracie sat up on the floor and yelled at the Tv, "Common Josh, Don't travel!"

Chuck and I were both within ear shot of Gracie. We both laughed out at the same time, "Wrong Sport, Gracie." ... but she didn't care...

Recently, Gracie has learned how to use the remote. Caleb noticed her clicking it to adjust the volume and exclaimed "Hey. Gracie knows how to use the remote"

Gracie, being ornery... and protective of her new found toy... held up her fist and showed it to Caleb. "You see this!?" Gracie shook her fist and squinted her eyes, "Well hush it before I use it"

Caleb busted up, "Gracie!" he laughed.

Gracie knew she had done something funny and laughed right along with her pal, Caleb

Suzie:

I took the girls out for Chicken Nuggets the other night. I laid their food out on the table and set up a little cup of ketchup for each one. Suzie reached for one of her nuggets but quickly dropped it back down.

She wiped her hand on her shirt and looked up at me. Moving her eyes to the people working behind the food counter, she leaned a little closer to me, "they must'iv leff dem in da stove for few menits."

I laughed, "Are your nuggets a little too hot?" Suzie nodded her head and reached for a french fry to dip in her ketchup.

Last night I was watching Tv... something other than Sponge Bob- A rare occasion. Shocking, I know... when my show was interrupted with live coverage of a Presidential speech. Just before the interruption, I asked Suzie to pick up her baby dolls and take them to her room.

Now I do watch the news and various Commentators, but its usually not for very long and the girls are either in their room playing or in my room watching a show of their own.

Anyway- Suzie returned from her room to pick up the rest of her dolls. She was bouncing and jittering around... procrastinating... when she suddenly stopped and looked at the Tv. With surprise in her voice, she chippers, "Hey! Thats BockOboma"

I glanced over at her and froze *blink**blink* "What did you say?" I questioned her, in disbelief that my 2 year old would actually know the name of the President... I guess he's more of a celebrity with as much as his face is plastered every where- but even still, Suzie doesn't recognize other faces from shows that I watch regularly...

Suzie smiled at me and repeated, "BockOboma"

I shook my head in amazement, not quite sure what to make of her observation- but definitely impressed. I mean, I just don't watch that much news at home. And I definitely don't make a vocal fuss over political issues- Not enough that my 2 yr old would pick up on.

I was simply stunned. Then it dawned on me. Inauguration Day!...yea, thats it... The girls were at the Sitters that day. Her granddaughter is in the military and was supposed to be positioned on the White House steps. The Sitter turned the Tv back and forth all day, trying to catch a glimpse of her granddaughter... lol- oh that Suze...

I don't seem to have many posts about the boys recently. I guess they are just in those teenage years where posts about them would more embarrassing then cute... Lord forbid I post about their lack of personal hygiene- lol...

What a wonderful chronicles - amazing that Suze knew BockObama is - I guess that proves how biased the media is - they show his face so much!!

How funny! Hugs to them both (and the boys too!)

Asa has gotten on a home-video-watching-kick. I guess being stuck inside going stir-crazy will make you desperate for any form of entertainment. lol

BTW, LOVE Gracie's new do! She does look all grown up....and great that her hair went to a good cause. ;)
