What Does 'I Doubt It' Mean In Your Family

Sunday afternoon was sorta planned, but not really. Chuck and I took the kids to the boat and travel show... just for something to do. to get out of the house for a couple hours... Being Sunday, no banks were open and neither of us were prepared with cash... just enough to get us into the exhibits...

We had a pretty good time looking at all the boats and campers. The kids were actually very good and enjoyed all the neat 'toys' too. The biggest problem was smelling all that fried food but not having any cash to pig out. Two hours of walking and smelling was all we could take. It was time to load up and go find some dinner.

Driving out of the City, the girls were arguing over where they wanted to eat.

Suzie: "Wendys!"

Gracie: "McDonalds!"

..."Wendys!" "McDonalds!".... "Wendys!" "McDonalds!"....

On it went for several minutes. There was no use arguing with them, so we just let them go. Finally Gracie asks, "Mommy, can we go to McDonalds?" Trying to not let their bantering get me frustrated I breathed out "I. Doubt. It."

Gracie thought for a second then asked, "Daddy, does 'I doubt it' mean 'No'?"

I chuckled out loud as Chuck responded, "Not always, but today it does." I knew exactly where he was heading. It wasn't McDonalds. It wasn't Wendys. And it wasn't Bob Evans, which Caleb tossed in there. He was headin' for some Hot Wings.

And Hot Wings he got. But if you ask if our waitress got a tip, I would have to say "I doubt it". The food was good, but the service was terrible... Terrible!... Other than that.... and the girls arguing... we had a pretty good day.

Funny how I doubt it works - it worked the same way at our house!

how about "a couple"? yea it means 2, but my boys aaaalways thinks there's a chance it's more than that when it comes to cookies or treats!
