Hmmm- several days between postings. For those that follow my blog you know that can only mean one thing. It was my weekend off. Once a month I get a weekend off- be it a 4 day weekend, I still wish I had more weekends off. Oh well, at least I have a job.
We really didn't do much this weekend, but upon reflection for this post, it was quite eventful.
Friday- We spent all afternoon out at our 'house to be'.
We are still in the process of selling/buying our house. The buyers of our current house are getting a government loan- which is why this process is taking so long... and if the government gets a hold of our health care, I can only imagine how horrible it will be...
The couple we are buying from have completely moved out of the house. Mr Seller has cancer and is currently undergoing severe treatment. They wanted to get everything with the house settled before his treatment started- the only thing left is to sign the papers. Mrs Seller is spending all her time at the hospital with her husband. She called us last week and asked if we would mind mowing the yard- Which we gladly agreed to help her out.
We got out to the house around noon. The boys helped me wash down the garage walls and put on a first coat of paint... it was a bright green and we painted it an off white... Chuck weed-eated and mowed. After I finished the painting, I trimmed some tree branches so I would be able to see the girls playing from the kitchen window and weed-eated some more... there is lots of yard at this place...
In between all this I dropped off/ picked up Josh from drivers ed. Took Caleb to work concessions but the game was canceled. Ran a few errands for Chuck. Oh, and 15 minutes after stopping by home during my errands, I missed seeing our neighbors tree crash through their back yard. It smashed their sheds but the only damage to the house was two broken windows.
Saturday- I let Josh drive me 45 miles to the Mall. We looked at some furniture for the new house. Taking a deep breath, I let Josh drive us home too. I told him this was not only a lesson in him driving, but a lesson in patience for me. He did ok, just tends to veer over into the other lane (a lot).
After the Mall, we stopped by a fund raiser dinner for some friends of ours. Their 16 year old son has been undiagnosed, but is slowly deteriorating since October. They are now saying maybe its MS or ALS. From the outside no one would ever know there was anything wrong with him- Sad. He is a good kid.
Once we got home, Suzie and I went back out to the 'house to be' and finished mowing. I have never used a zero turn mower, and it was, uhm... interesting. Suzie and I bounced all over the place. I did get the front yard mowed. It may not have been pretty, but it was done.
Sunday- We actually went to Church.. whoo hoo... Chuck was cracking me up with his remarks about the girls dresses being too short or too strappy. Boy, will it be an adventure when they start to 'develop'. LoL- I don't think he will handle it so well.
After Church Suzie and I went out to the house and I painted a second coat in the garage. Just before I finished Chuck and the other kids showed up. The boys got busy cleaning out the barn. The property has grown up and needs lots of trimming... all in time- but we are anxious to get started...
Monday- Josh had Driver Ed. The other kids and I went to the grocery store. We all got home just before lunch time. The boys completed a list of chores while I put away groceries and got the girls some lunch. And- a record for me- I made 3 lasagnas and 2 meat loafs... in under 90 minutes... whew! I had me a good assembly line going...
I left 1 lasagna out for dinner. Put a meat loaf and 2nd lasagna in the freezer. Then we took the 3rd lasagna and meat loaf over to our friends house... the one with the sick son we had the fund raiser for... She has so much on her mind that she often forgets to fix dinner.
After all that, I took the kids to the pool for a few hours. The water is still quite chilly, but we had a good time. The boys had to work concessions after dinner. The girls fell asleep in my bed watching a movie. I had to text Chuck and see if he could get Josh and Caleb so I didn't have to wake up the girls.
Tuesday- I am back at work- getting some rest.

:) I love the last line. I think I rest more when I'm at work than I do when I'm home too!!
WHEW!! What a weekend - no rest for the weary but I know you enjoyed doing things @the "home to be". Good for Chuck on the girls clothes - between the two of you I know you'll strike a good balance in how they dress.
Love you all so much looking forward to seeing you Thurs.
You have been busy for sure! Glad you are getting some "rest" today!
"I'm back at work getting some rest."
Ha! That line made me laugh!
Yikes, such a busy 4 day weekend and you were off???
So glad that you can have a certain sense of peace and call some of your projects complete. I know that helps a lot.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
I fell asleep trying to read this and got drool all over my keyboard and then it shorted out. So, you owe me a new keyboard. :)
I hope you know that I'm kidding. I just couldn't resist. I actually read the whole thing and couldn't come up with a meaningful comment to leave. Sounds like your life is busy.
