A Whining Afternoon

Sunday, Caleb watched the girls for me- Chuck and I both had to work. From the time I got home from work, Gracie whined. I tried to be patient with her, realizing she was probably tired or had too much junk food with Caleb.

Busy in the kitchen fixing dinner, Gracie came in and complained that her tummy hurt. It wasn't one of those serious complaints, just her whining.

Me, being busy... and tiring of her whining... disregarded her complaint with a simple "OK, I'll take care of it in a minute."

Gracie whined some more about her tummy

My tone a little more stern this time, "O.K. Gracie. I'll. Take. Care. Of. It. In. A. Minute"

Gracie whined her response, "Well, Cant you just think straight?" ... Well, I guess I could if she would stop her whining...

"Gracie, go lay down and let me finish dinner."

"But I'm not hungry" she whined as she made her way to the couch... and I rolled my eyes...

After a few minutes on the couch Gracie asks whines, "Mommy, can I have some Daddy Chippies (Doritos)"

"No you cant have chips. I am fixing dinner"

"But I don't want dinner. My tummy hurts" Gracie whined.... Oye! I gritted my teeth trying to remain patient...

"Gracie, just be quiet. Take a little rest"

I finished up dinner in the next five minutes, "Kids, its time to eat." I spyed Gracie on the couch, sound asleep.

I walked over to her and felt her head, making sure that she didn't have a fever... its odd for Gracie to fall asleep so quickly, especially in the middle of the day... Nope. No fever. I guess she was just that tired.

After her nap, her mood was better- but still a little whine going on

Jonah turned 2 in Feb, and I've noticed that he already has the ability to turn on the tears whenever he wants to. He was extremely whiney last night and crying for no reason. We figured out later that he may have had a stomachache as his diaper revealed later. =S

I was so right there with you during your whole blog. Mine came home from Vacation Bible School on Friday, saying she wasn't feeling well, her tummy hurt and she felt sick.

We put her on the couch and turned on some TV thinking it was just the heat we have had so much of last week and perhaps she just burned out too soon.

Turns out that she had strep and now sounds much like a barking seal.

I guess i can relate. . . :o) Gracie's Uncle Joel used to get a fever & sick to his stomach when he didn't get enough rest. Must run in the family.
