Edith (mil) and Julia stopped by the other day to drop off a big girl bed (twin bed) for Suzie. Chuck had painted the girls room earlier in the day and I was touching up a few spots.
Edith, Julia and I were in the girls room. Caleb came home and met us in the room to check out the paint job.
Caleb exclaims, "Wow mom. What did you do?"
Still painting, I glanced over my shoulder to see him, "What do you mean 'What did I do'?"
Caleb continued, "I don't know. You just look a lot younger. (he paused for a second) Seriously, what did you do?"
Edith and I both looked at him and asked at the same time, "What do You want??" We laughed at both of us making the same comment at the same time.
Caleb was unsure of why we responded to his comment with sarcasm an laughter. He defended his statement, saying he didn't 'want' anything. He simply thought I looked younger..... maybe I should put my hair in a ponytail and smear paint on my face more often...
Finally giving up trying to clear his name, Caleb left the room with a smirk on his face... A smirk that left me believing he was up to something.... something a small as getting a rise out of me and Mamaw...

sounds like you are teaching that boy RIGHT! complimenting a girl...especially his mom is priceless. way to go caleb...even if it confused ya! ☺
Give it a week and if he asks you for something then I guess you will know!
I think when he realized you were on to him he changed strategies. I'm with Nicole...give it a week!
Oh I would be saying the exact same thing. My daughter does that all the time, handing out compliments when she has something else up her sleeve.
I don't think they catch on that we are wiser than they give us credit for.
