Pajamas Fit For A King

Suzanna has a favorite red plaid night gown. She refers to it as her Snow White gown. To me, it looks nothing like Snow Whites dress. But to Suzie, there must be something about it that reminds her of Snow White.... thinking about it, I don't think Suzie has ever watched Snow White. Hmmm....

A couple nights ago I got out pajamas for Suzie; a pant and shirt set. Suzie whined about wanting to wear her Snow White gown. I explained that it was in the dirty clothes basket and she could wear it the next night.

Grabbing the the jammies I had laid out, I helped a pouty Suzie put on the pants. I reached for the shirt and Suzie started her protest, "I don't wanna be the King"

"What?" I was puzzled, "What King?"

"That King" Suzie pointed to her shirt.

"The shirt?" I asked. "What does this shirt have to do with a King?" it was a peach colored top with flip flops on the hem.

Suzie huffed out her explanation, "Cuz if I put on the shirt, I'll be the King. I don't wanna be the King"

I laughed, "Where in the world did you get that logic?"

Suzie huffed again, "Cuz I just did. Every one that wears a shirt is the King. I don't wanna be the King" Suzie walked over to her drawer and pulled out one of her other night gowns. "I wanna be the Pwrincess."

Last night, getting Suzie ready for bed. Her Snow White gown was in the clothes hamper so we had a similar conversation. Her imagination is overflowing.

Finding it all very humorous, I tried to keep the conversation going. "I am wearing a shirt. Does that make me the King?"

"yea" Suzie answered confidently.

"But I'm not the King. I'm the Queen" I continued to play along

"Nu uh" Suzie was persistent. "If you wear a shirt, that makes you King"

I tried to convince her that Princess' wore shirts too, but she wouldn't bite. Instead, she pulled out a less favorite gown from her drawer and handed it to me to get her dressed.

After getting her dressed, I ran to my computer to tap out a rough draft post. A few times I called over to Suzie and asked about the details of our conversation, "Suzie, did you say you were a Queen or Princess?" I even asked why she called her red gown her "Snow White' gown. But she didn't really have a reason worth posting. LOL- her reasons are her reasons, and there is no convincing her otherwise. Hopefully she will use her powers for good and not evil.

Rebekah,

I guess in all our minds, we all want to always be the princess. Good things truly come to those that wait.
