The first week of school started off rough. Both girls came home exhausted and grumpy the first day, but 2 hours chillin out brought them around to their old selves. The boys have started right into practices and do not get home until 5:30 or 6:00. *Note* this will be an interesting year. Josh is a senior and Suzie started kindergarten...
I usually ask the girls who they play with each day, just to keep track of who their friends are. The first day Suzie said she played by herself. She wasn't too dramatic about it, but stated later that no one likes her. I waved off her comment, telling her she was being silly.

Day 2. Chucks brother, Adam, asked Suzie how school was and who she plays with. The emotional exhaustion of settling into the school routine is still wearing on Suzie and she was a bit more dramatic today. Suzie barked at Adam, "No body!" Then she threw her arms up in the air and dramatically stated, "No body likes me! What is wrong with me!?" Then she walked behind the truck and put her head on the bumper.... lolol... Oh, it really wasn't cruel of me to laugh. She was acting more than actually being upset, but we did encourage her, telling her that she will make friends, she just has to give it some time.
Tucking the girls into bed that night, we said a prayer asking for a friend for Suzie. Still being a tad bit emotional and dramatic, Suzie said praying wouldn't help. So I told the girls about the time I prayed for snow for my 10th birthday... and on that day, I woke up to a dusting of snow. It was somewhat miraculous because we did live in Florida.

Day 3 and 4. Pretty much the same, but getting better. The routine is settling in. A definite bed time of 9pm is helping. On day 4, I picked the girls up, and on our ride home was the typical discussions; what they learned, what they ate for lunch, and who they played with.
Suzie and a "Friend" chased another "Friend" around on the playground. As Suzie was telling us about it, Gracie smiled, "Mommy, it worked!"
I glanced up at Gracie in my rear view mirror, "What worked?"
Gracie looked at Suzie, "We prayed for a friend for Suzie and she got one! Just like it snowed on your birthday!"
So proud of Gracie for remembering and realizing what just happened, "You're right! See, Suzie. Praying does work!"

Although the girls aren't as exhausted as they were on their first day, they (especially Suzie) are still getting used to their long day at school.
Last night I was helping the girls climb a tree and Suzie asked when school was going to be over. I laughed, "You've got a long way to go yet. But school is good for you. You learn lots of new stuff."
Suzie hoisted her leg over the branch, "You know what I wish. I wish all babies were just born smart. And that every one at every age was smart too. Then we wouldn't need school!"
I laughed and replied, "Yeah, that would be neat, but then you wouldn't make new friends like you did today!"
