Catching Up

Whew wee! I am finally back at work. I was off for three days but it seemed more like an eternity. It's all jumbled together like one looong day. I did take some pictures of the iced over trees. I'll post them later.
Tuesday I stayed home due to the weather. I baked cookies, the boys played in the snow, the girls played in the house and Chuck, well where do I start. Chuck plowed snow all night and got home around 8am Tuesday morning. He tried to sleep but then his fire pager went off..... and it never stopped the rest of the day.
First he was paged out for a CPR run. ... ick, I hate CPR runs. Its traumatic to be the patient but it's also hard on the person doing the CPR, physically and emotionally... He didn't even make it back home yet when they got toned out again. Another First Responder run and then a wreck. The ice hit and the rest of the day was spent pulling trees out of the road and being sent to arching electric lines.... sitting at home listening to all this scanner traffic was driving me crazy! I wanted to be right in the middle of it, dispatching it all!
The kids and I ate dinner... homemade vegetable, yum... while I started a pot of coffee for Chuck, Josh went out and started the van. We took a thermos up to Chuck. He was cold and tired from being up all night so he was on station playing 'dispatcher'. When I walked in he says, "I kinda like this dispatch stuff. Talking on the radio and keeping track of where everyone is at." Grrrrrr, wish it was me that busy ...
The events of the day settled a bit and we all went home. Hoping and praying our electric wouldn't go out. I blinked off/on a few times overnight, but all was well.
A Suzie Moment: Josh had a Dr apt Wednesday so we ventured out. I took Josh and Suzie with me, while Caleb stayed home with Gracie. Suzie's feeding time would be in the middle of the appointment so I took a bottle with us... note to self: don't take noisy car honking toys to quiet doctor's office ...Suzie spotted her bottle and reached for it. I handed her the 'capped' bottle and watched her try to figure it out. She is just at the age where she can hold the bottle.
..............She latched onto it and pulled it to her mouth. Hmmm, something isn't right. She pulls her head back and examines the bottle. Leans her head to one side and turns the bottle upside down. Again she pulls it to her mouth but that's not right either. She holds the bottle in front of her and studies it. She leans her head to the other side and flips the bottle right side up. She puts her mouth on the cap and pulls away again. something isn't right and she just can't figure it out ...finally she pulls the bottle back and just sucks on the cap. Poor little girl.

That poor little gal. I'm sure after you got your giggles out, you uncapped it for her. LOL! We had a lot better luck around here. A lot of snow, but the ice didn't make it quite this far North. What a great wife you are to bring your hubby coffee after a day like that. I hope you're all recovered.

So hubby got a taste of what you do, huh? Sounds like he ran himself ragged helping others, though! Poor guy!
You must be really proud of him.
