...and as we all know, that is a major criminal thing to do in the 5th grade. I've posted previously about Caleb's crush and what it means to be boyfriend/girlfriend in the 5th grade.
So Caleb has had this crush on "Emily C" for a few years now. He kept asking her to be his girlfriend but she always told him no. Well, a few months ago Caleb told me that "Emily N" liked him and asked him to 'go out with her'... whatever that means . Caleb agreed even though he liked "Emily C" better.
Last night Caleb comes to me and says, "Mom, I got in trouble." quickly he adds "Not at school or nothin like that." then he hem haw's around and tells me the story ... "Well, Austin asked "Emily C" if she wanted to be my girlfriend and she said YES! and, well, um, sigh. You know?!"
I couldn't help but laugh a little, "Yes, Caleb, I know. I told you before not to 'go out' with a girl if you really don't like her." .... now he has two girlfriends and they're both named 'Emily', and they are also friends with his cousin, Julia. It was real interesting back in Dec when we went to Julia's birthday party and both Emily's were there, but lets move on....
So Caleb says, "She'll (Emily N) cry when I tell her. Whado-I-do?" So I went on to explain how he should handle it ending with "just be friends with them and wait til you get in the 7th grade and then you can at least ask them to a dance or something"
This morning Caleb calls, still concerned about what he is going to do. I just hope he realizes that it's no fun to break a girls heart and is more careful from here on out.
