My heart breaks for those involved in the devastation. The loss of sons and daughters, brothers and sisters.... the loss of a best friend, a girl friend or boy friend. I gasp thinking of the pain these parents must feel
I think about the EMS and Police that responded. I know they are hurting. They are expected to respond when given a detail to do, it is their job... but they go home and cry too.
God, reach down and hold them in Your hand. Cradle them as they cry. Give them peace. Let them know the Son will part the clouds and shine again.

Sadly, in their despondency, they'll probably pass a law to make this ALREADY ILLEGAL ACT illegal times two. It'll be a "tough" law, one that will really put the screws to those evil tools that kill people. It will be an emotional response...sweeping legislation. It will pass to the praise and accolades of Gun Control Activists everywhere. It'll make a whole lot of people feel better that something "good" has come from all of this (feel good legislation always does).....until it happens again...and it will...it always does.
And then they'll wonder "Why?". They'll tell themselves that it is because the laws just aren't strict enough. Then they'll respond the same way again, hoping for different results. They'll never understand that only law abiding citizens follow the law. Criminals don't care. And they'll leave even more people defenseless and at the mercy of one lunatic with a gun. Perhaps they'll even teach a class on how to defend yourself from a man with a gun with the skillful use of a textbook or pencil.
I'm with you. It is a sad day.
