Murphy's L@w Part 2

Wednesday was the start of our Fall Fest. It was a gorgeous evening and more importantly it was 'One Ticket Ride' night.... can I get an 'Amen' to that?!... The kids had a great time... well, Suzie cried on the merry-go-round, but other than her, the kids had a blast on the rides. Graice loved the little roller coaster and the Frogger. Chuck tried to win Gracie a gold fish but couldn't git-r-dun. Caleb and Josh ran off with some friends. This Festival is like a homecoming for the town. It takes forever to walk around the town square because you are always bumping into someone you haven't seen in For.Ev.Er.

Anyway, it was a good evening. I guess Murphy thought I had enough of him earlier in the day and left me alone.

Thursday Josh had his retainer removed and braces put on. What was supposed to take 2 hours turned into 3. The retainer was glued into his mouth and the Dentist had a heck of a time trying to get it out. Josh was a trooper.

After a quick bite to eat I took Josh back to school. The County Cross Country meet was that afternoon and Josh couldn't participate if he didn't go to school. Josh placed 8th for the meet and 2nd for our team.

As he was coming down the home stretch, Josh sped up to yell at Brandon that there were two runners right behind him. Now... hmmmm, most of the other runners are so exhausted after the 1.7 mile run that they can barely acknowledge their parents as they cheer them on. Josh not only has enough to pick up his pace quite a bit, but he has enough breath to yell at Brandon??? Me thinks Josh had a little more gas in the tank!

Oh, did I mention that it rained most of the day Thursday? The showers did take a brief pause during the meet, but then started back up again.

Josh came home that night with a lot of home work. He had a Science test to study for and some work sheets to do for the classes he missed while getting his braces put on. Josh was upset because we didn't get to go the the Festival. I tried to console him by telling him we weren't planning on going anyway because of the rain.... Ha! I out-smarted Murphy....

Friday I was back at work. I tried to write a post all day but every time I got my thoughts in line, someone came into the office. Usually nobody comes in here.... Oh, maybe to pick up mail or ask a quick question but not to sit and chat. Murphy just wouldn't let me do it.

Friday night is the biggest night for the Fall Fest. My brother, Pete and nephew, Asa, were going to come up but Pete got called into work... shaking my head... Murphy. Murphy. Murphy.

The Festival was packed that night, which I guess is a good thing because it takes longer to get on a ride, which means spending less money on tickets. The boys were off on their own so it was just Chuck and I with the girls. Suzie is too little to ride and Gracie is too little to ride by herself. We spent twice the tickets because either Chuck or I had to ride with Gracie. So we would ride and walk, walk and ride. We tried to stop and listen to the bands playing on stage but the girls didn't want to sit still. Go. Go. Go.

The activities on the Square were still in full swing but we were exhausted and home by 9. Chuck had to get up at 6 the next morning to get things started for the Chicken dinner the Fire Department puts on every year after the Fall Fest parade.

The festival sounds fun. We are about to have ours here next weekend (the 14-16) - and that is where my mom broke her ankle last year. Anyway, they are fun, but AMEN on that one ticket deal. I usually don't let Brandon ride any of the rides unless it is a pay one price deal or something.

I dread the braces deal...Brandon will have to get his next year probably. Not looking forward to THAT.

Your week was full :o). Great deal on the one ticket rides--wish the vendors here would learn that lesson. They insist on charging three. *sigh*

Send some of your rain my way...okay?

Paige hates rides.... except the merry- go- round. We took her to six flags for her birthday and even the ones she could ride with me she was scared.
