Those Darn Jingles

And I don't mean "Jingles" as in Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas. I mean those darn ad jingles.

Saturday was a fairly warm day and and as I drove home from work the notion hit me that it would be a nice day to hang Christmas lights outside. I was taken-a-back when I mentioned the idea to Chuck he said "Ok".... Shocking! Not really, I think he learned his lesson last year when he let the "warm" weekend pass by and had to hang lights on a blustery day...

Anyway, he said to have the boys help get the leaves raked up first. With the assistance of a leaf blower and a couple of rakes we got most of the leaves to the curb. The town drives by once a week and sucks them up with their giant hoover.

Chuck got out the ladder, lights and other necessities to decorate our house. I had a roast in the crock pot and bounced between checking on dinner and handing Chuck lights. My heart was light and my spirit was cheery. Normally that's not a bad thing but today my light-hearted-ness trapped my brain with a catchy little tune.

Slowly the tune filtered though my brain, seeping down. I began to hum. The pressure built up and the words slipped from my mouth in a soft whisper. More and more pressure built up as the tune took over my brain. It needed an escape. Finally the jingle burst out of my mouth in full fledged song.

Chuck was done with the lights and came in the house. I was in the kitchen finishing up dinner and singing my song... Of course I was only singing the catchiest part of the song over and over and over... Finally Chuck said, "If. You. Don't. Stop. Sining that song. I. Am. Going. To. Get. Duck Tape!".... you know how men are, they think Duck Tape will fix anything...

I never saw that commercial before - so if that jingle gets into my head, it will be your fault.
