An Amusing Good Time

Minus a few rough spots with "pre-school" and "teenager" attitudes, we had a pretty good time on our camping trip. Thursday, after setting up camp, we all headed to the pool for some cool-off, splashing-good fun. We grilled out burgers for dinner... grilled burgers always taste the best... then the girls helped Daddy get his boat ready for his morning fishing excursion.... of course while he was off fishing at the crack of dawn, the kids and I were sleeping in...

Friday we went to Indiana Beach. Its a very old Amusement Park to which they added on a Water Park. I was disappointed in the Water Park. The girls were to little to go on any of the Slides or Lazy River. They didn't really like the Fountains- So that only left swimming in lake water... Pffff... About half the Slides were closed for some reason or another. I went on one Slide with Josh, then the Lazy River with Caleb. Caleb turned the Lazy River more into 'Race' River. We had a good time pulling on each others tubes and trying to get ahead of the other.

Chuck was hungry so we left the Water for the Amusement area. I was pleasantly surprised at spending only $25 to buy everyone lunch. I expected the food to cost much more. With our stomachs full, what else would we do but get on some rides... can be a little scary hoping the little ones don't toss up lunch... Our first ride was the sky lift. I thought maybe the girls would be a little scared but they loved it. Here is me looking back at Chuck and Suzie

Now taking a picture of Josh and Caleb in front. While we were half way across, the ride halted. I worried how Gracie would react. But she just kept looking around, pointing out the little people on the ground
Really, Gracie isn't freaking out. She is just being silly. In the back ground you can see the lake area closed off for swimming. Part of the Lazy River is in the upper left corner of the picture.
We walked the length of the Park. Rode a few rides. And watched them put on a Pirate Show out on the river. The last ride was the log ride. Here Gracie, Caleb and Josh are coming down, getting ready to splash at the bottom
Chuck took Suzie down. Notice her arms stretched out, holding on for dear life
By the expression on her face I don't think she was crazy about this ride

The Amusement Park was exhausting so Saturday we just spent the day lazing around the camp ground. Next door to Jelly Stone was another camp ground. They had a huge arcade, a putt-putt course and a small water park area with some slides and a huge bucket that would fill up with water and then splash down on the kids below. The girls didn't care for it too much. The water was ice cold. But the boys had a blast and spent most of the day over there.

There was also a bungee swing that Caleb went on twice. Josh watched but didn't say anything. I asked him if he wanted to ride, almost positive that he would say No. To my surprise, Josh took my money and got himself a ticket. He didn't do quite as many flips and flops as Caleb, but he did a couple good flips- mostly he just bounced up and down

I had one more picture I was going to post but decided to save it for Wordless Wednesday. Make sure you come back tomorrow and check it out. It was just the luck of a click and I didn't even notice the humor until I looked at the pictures on the computer... See you tomorrow...

Oh my goodness! I haven't been to Indiana Beach since the 70's!
And I DID toss my lunch there once.
We had a picnic lunch, my favorite lunch meat back then...pickle loaf.
I was pretty gross .... LOL LOL
I up-chucked it after getting off that old farris wheel type ride that had enclosed cars (instead of regular farris wheel seats) that would turn you upside down. I was a pretty tiny kid & felt like I was falling OUT!
The minute we stepped off, I puked. Right where the people in line were getting on.
That ride was next to that old haunted house.
A friend of mine said that old haunted house is still there?! Wow. We never went in it, but still, I can't believe that old creepy thing is still there!

I totally love amusement parks! Every year when I was a kid, up until about 7th grade, we went to one of the amusement parks in Denver over Memorial Day weekend with another family that my parents were good friends with.

When I was little I was absolutely POSITIVE that Heaven would be the biggest, bestest amusement park ever!!

Looks like your family had a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing your pictures!
