Head-Buttin Suze

From the time Suzie was 7 or 8 months she started this 'head butting' thing. I don't know why she started this but she does it all the time. When you reach down to pick her up she is all smiles and happy. You're holding her at eye level, she looks into your eyes, slowly dips her head and then a quick "Bam"! Ouch! Yes, she does it hard enough that it actually hurts. But she doesn't do it just once, she will keep doing it. Her forehead will be red but she will keep doing, and laugh every time. I find myself actually warning people when they pick her up, "Careful! She'll head butt you". If you're not paying attention she's been known to get you right between the eyes, on the bridge of the nose.... it makes your eyes water
Yesterday afternoon she wanted on the couch with me. I picked her up and she tried to climb up the back of the couch to look out the window. Then she sat down in front of me, slowly tilted her head, and then "Bam". She did it a few times so I put my hand on my forehead. She kept doing it, laughing every time.
Later we went to Chuck's parents. We walked out to the barn to see the baby ducks.... they're penned up out there... Suzie squealed and giggled, banging on the screen cover. Chuck reached in and grabbed a duck. He brought it out and Suzie was nose to beak with it.... of course the ducks are big enough now that Suzie can't fit their heads in her mouth... She grabbed its beak, patted its head, then she dipped her head and "Bam!"... she head butted the duck. We would have been rolling on the floor laughing.... but we were, after all, in a barn.....

Hey Bek, Rachel is right, when I read this I immediately thought of Joel! He used to do this when he was crawling before he started walking.

Love ya Mom
