Saturday when I got home from work there were a lot of cars in our neighbors yard... He lives two houses behind us. From our back yard we have a straight line of sight into every back yard on our side of the street. Our corn is up right now so we do have some privacy buffer...
Anyway, our neighbor (the 'Doper' as we call him) was having a party. Chuck said they had been blasting the music since before noon. We went out to Chuck's parents that afternoon and got home about 8:30. The music was a-thumpin'. We couldn't smell any 'm*ry j*ne' but we could see plenty of beer bottles being tipped up.
As we walked into the house they were playing the song 'Black Velvet' by Alanna Myles... except it didn't sound like Alanna Myles..... Oh dear God, it's kara0ke!!!.... It wasn't too bad though. The next few songs sounded pretty good... the temperature has been very cool and no humidity so our windows were open... We kept peeking out the window to see if we could get a glimpse of who was singing... maybe it wasn't karaoke, maybe they had a band or something...
Friday evening Chuck had set up the tent for the girls to play. It was still up so they wanted to go out and play "Fo juss wun me-nut" as Gracie puts it. We sat on our picnic table and listened to the music... couldn't help but hear it... Then the next song came on... and it was indeed kara0ke.
With each song, each singer was more off key and drunker than the one before. Chuck called our neighbor that lives between us and the Doper. Larry and Chuck went to school together and have been good friends for years.... I think it's funny that there is a movie out called 'Chuck and Larry' and that they are both firefighters. I told them the other night that we need to go see this movie together... Larry was 'listening' to the music too so he came over and 'listened' with us.
It was about 9:15 and we could see all the curtains of the neighbors across the street being pulled back, certain that the complaints were beginning to pile up in Dispatch. The Town Deputy had already driven by twice but hadn't stopped.
The final straw for me was when someone started singing... and I use that word loosely... 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' by Bonnie Tyler. I couldn't take it any more and took Suze in for bed time. 15 minutes later Chuck came in and said the cops showed up and told them to turn it down. Surprisingly they kept it quiet all night. We half expected them to get loud, if not with the music than just a bunch of drunks having a good time.

I hope the Havenosenses don't get wind of this karaoke thing. Whew! Pretty funny, though.
I have to say, I would hate having neighbors like this, especially if this were a habit. But, at least you guys got some fun out of it. People like that...well, they make me nervous.
I don't know whats worse...people like that or presumably "respectible" ones like mine that bite your back every time you turn around...
Why is it that drunk people feel the need to sing?!
